Stitch Chat

A place for embroidery people to meet

Well folks, I've been successfully evading quilting for a long time now and every time you quilty lot try to reel me in I've slipped off the hook, although, I have to say that since joining www.stitchchat.com the lure has been getting stronger and stronger.

This morning I was happily enjoying myself at my local sewing store's sewing club and what was the mini project demo today? Only a pinreel quilt block! Waaaggghhh! no escape route, too many stitchers blocking the way!

So bam! you finally got me, hook, line and sinker!

I found I was completely unable to leave the store without signing up for a beginners course on machine quilting.

The classes run for three consecutive Thursdays 10am to 1pm starting on the 2nd July.

So thank you one and all for your inspiration and unwaivering determination to get me quilting.

YOU WON!!!!

I'll be sure to post each week's progress.

Hmm, so I wonder if I can have my trip to Fabricland tomorrow to choose my co-ordinating fabrics? Maybe I should look for a fishy designs?

Oh Margaret, Welcome to the crazy world of quilters! We take yardage of fabric cut it into pieces
and then sew it back together to make a large piece(sounds crazy hu..). But I know you will be hooked
also with the endless possibilities. AND WHAT FUN.

well done - hahaha you are so easy to fish in it is unbelievable - well hope it turns out to be a great learning experience for you. I know of one here and I should really see what the cost is to join one as I can make a quilt but can not do the machine quilting itself and that is the feat I have to overcome yet and they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks - who are they kidding lol

I fear you will soon be adding another addiction to your list LOL. I only hand quilt at this stage in my life, it gives me something to do a Civil War events. I have not done more than simple one block wall hangings using the machine. I am sure one day I will do a quilt with embroidery and I will be hooked for life. Keep us up to date on your progress with this new quilting project.
