My son's wedding was this weekend. It was up in the Big Horn Mountains at his fiance's grandparents cabin with no electricity nor running water, but a beautiful cabin that was built back in the 1850's and added onto in the early 1900's. The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing moose and elk. The family my son married into is wonderful with a great sense of humor. The long time neighbor and friend was the minister and he made the ceremony very enjoyable and funny. One thing he did do is clear up a mystery that men have been trying to figure out for years....
He told of how a young bride years ago was so nervous she wasn't sure if she could go through with the wedding. He told how the minister trying to calm her nerves gave her this advice....
"First you concentrate only on the Isle and that you are going to go down it. Then when you are walking down the Isle, you concentrate only on the alter. When you get to the alter, you concentrate only on the groom and how you are going to enjoy your life with him"
This was good advice and she was sure she could do that so she started chanting to herself " Isle, Alter, Him... Isle, Alter, Him... Isle, Alter, Him"
And so now it has become a tradition for brides to remember "Isle, Alter, Him".
