Does anyone have a Singer Futura?

I bought a Singer Futura 350 at last Fall's Creativ Festival and love it.The only drawback is the hoop size is not very large and I can't seem to see how to line up for multiple hooping.Does anyone else have a Singer Futura, and how do you manage larger designs?See More

"Thanks Liz, I digitized the bike design myself from clipart. The embroidery machine I have is the Singer Futura 350 and I paid an extra $250 when I bought it for the software. I knew that I wanted to do my own triathlon designs and figured if I…"

"That's right - never throw away the scraps. Apart from being able to use them when you wash the lace, you can always use the little bits to "float" on top of something else that you're stitching. I have quite a collection!!!! One…"

"I read a tip recently for FSL. When you cut away the "rinse away" (or whatever) save the offcuts and then put them in a bowl of warm water and soak the fsl in the liquid for a few minutes and it will put some of the stiffness back."

Wasn't that fun?

Posted on July 3, 2009 at 10:47am 0 Comments

So yesterday I had my very first quilt class at my local Sew N Serge store. It was great as only Fiona and myself had registered for the class so we got Jean, the teacher's, undivided attention, well divided only two ways anyway.

Neither of us have ever done any quilting before, well except that last week I dabbled with a small pinreel design for a throw cushion, but that wasn't 'real' quilting, done 'proper like' I mean!

Jean was very patient and showed us the way to… Continue

A youngster of seventy four

was thinking her day was a bore

to shake off the dust

a party's a must

I'll invite all the gals here and more

So off she went to the stitch chat

With her best bib 'n tucker and hat

she said I'm the one

who's going to have fun

I'm gonna be the coolest cool cat

Now what do we have here to drink

a margarita with a lime slice I think

with a dash of rim salt

that will give us a… Continue

Well folks, I've been successfully evading quilting for a long time now and every time you quilty lot try to reel me in I've slipped off the hook, although, I have to say that since joining the lure has been getting stronger and stronger.

This morning I was happily enjoying myself at my local sewing store's sewing club and what was the mini project demo today? Only a pinreel quilt block! Waaaggghhh! no escape route, too many stitchers blocking the… Continue

Who needs all those Bells and Whistles?

Posted on May 28, 2009 at 12:52pm 2 Comments

Where is the beep? Oh that's right, I'm on my old "regular" machine and it doesn't beep!

I remember thinking, (as I was watching the demonstration of the Singer Futura by Ruth, the Singer lady, while she was pointing out to me all the 'bells and whistles' of the machine) who needs all those fancy bits?

What needlewoman can't thread a needle, or know when the thread has broken, or the bobbin has run out?

Err, well, it appears - me!

Today was the first… Continue

New Sewing Room - at last!

Posted on May 15, 2009 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

My dear husband has unwittingly made the decision for me, I have finally decided that I need a dedicated sewing room.

Until now I've always had my sewing machine in the spare bedroom and pulled out the stuff I need when I've needed it. Being a spare bedroom the biggest flat surface is, of course, the bed! So it gets covered with my spreading out the thread boxes, fabric, etc. until the duvet is almost lost completely.

So what changed? Last weekend DH hurt his back and has… Continue

I have been away on a little holiday and you guessed it. Just had to stop at a couple of quilt shops and of course I got a new purse pattern. I really had to control myself because there were three ideally wanted. Gave my daughter in law the black and white one I have on the photo gallery and she really liked it. My friend sent me a new to me pattern from Bella Nonna I'll try to send a picture when I get

How many purses have you made?  I have a lot of the purses I have made in  album in the designs by sick under peggy's projects.  I now have so many I can't give them away(ha Ha).

I bought mine through Home Shopping network which didn't allow for any Singer free help.  Unfortunetly.  Do you by chance have a web cam?

Thanks for the email Margaret, my husband is home at nights now so probably won't be on the chat.  I haven't figured out how to DL on Stitch Chat yet.
