Phillipa, sorry to hear this happened! Hope it never happens to me, because I have a Brother Persona and it would be a pain to have to bring that into the shop!
It has happened. Turned on my Machine this morning and got a message the machine needs routine maintenance. Considering it has been two years since it was last serviced and no problems, I guess it is time I take my love for a road trip.
Ann Kitchen, what model machine do you have? Does it say in the manual that you can hook it to a computer? Also, if your pattern is larger than the largest hoop you have, the machine won't read the design.
If you are able to hook it up to your computer, make sure you are using the correct cable.
I am having problems with my brother to read some of my files from the usb stick. I can't get it to see the computer either. Can anyone give me any help?
Mary Ramsey: can't imagine why it started half way through, but check the usual suspects--bobbin, thread path, needle, etc. Did it happen on a test stitchout?
I got a new brother embroidery machine to update my old one. I haven't got to use it much. I have had shoulder surgery.
Today my daughter wanted me to do her dads name on towels she got for him when he BBQ's. #1 Dad did great second towel did great as well till we got to the last letter of his name .About half way through that last letter the bottom thread started appearing on top.
Does anyone know why it does this?
I am going to have to have a look at this machine labeelady. it's good you found a new home for your PE 770.
Recently I upgraded my PE-770 to a Brother Persona, a single needle free-arm embroidery machine. Class starts May 16, but I've managed to stitch out 4 designs. I think I'm in love!
The PE-770 was sold to my next-door neighbor, who needed a better machine that had a bigger hoop.
It is the simple things like taking the bobbin out and putting it back in as well changing the needle. i alsways get the ladies to check the bobbin area first and then see if there is any lint accumalted down there. Of course I try to impress on them the importance of cleaning their machines after they have finished sewing for the day, so it is ready for tomorrow.
TIP: When I was teaching my cuz the basics of machine embroidery I kept having a problem with the bobbin thread showing on the top. I tried changing the tensions, I went over the design again. Nothing seemed to be working. So...I took out the bobbin and needle and replaced it. BOOM! It stitched perfectly. It was a happy accident that taught her (and me) a valuable lesson on problem solving in a more obvious way than anything I could SAY!
